Team Dillon has fun on Australia Day!
By Jodie Stimpson - Vision Fitness Ambassador
Well training has been full on these past couple of weeks, especially since the arrival of my new training partner, and new addition to Team Dillon - Kathy Trembley! It's great to have another female on the team, and we are pushing each other every day on all of the sessions which is great and I'm loving it. It want it that little bit more when you have someone sprinting to the line with you, or swimming stroke per stroke, pedal per pedal.
Having yet another Olympian in the group is pretty impressive, we've got a x2 Olympian as a coach (GB's highest place finisher), Stu Hayes (Mr Consistent) and of course gutsy winner of the Kitzbhuel World Championship Series Race last year, and Will and Kathy who have both been to the Olympics. So, could I possibly be with a better team . . . hmmmm it'll take some beating!
So you've got me and Kathy training well, and Stu and Will are training great, as well as Michelle cracking the whip, the Ball’s in the wheelie bin sessions are truly in full flow!
Australia Day Aquathon (short but defo ball smashing) . . .
On Australia day me and Will took part in The Burleigh Beach Swim Run. Burleigh has a beautiful beach, and the whole race was great fun. A bit unusual, we had a 400m sea swim and a 3.8k run, not the distances we are used to but boy I had a great time!
The sea swim is always interesting and I made sure I was next to the person I knew could ride the waves, she's like a surf board herself - Mrs Liz Blatchford, and she did as I expected and got the the buoy 2nd, with me close behind, and then coming back into the beach she got a small lead with Kirsten Sweetland and some other lifeguard girls, so I had a bit of a hard chase out of transition, and then come storming behind me was Ashley Gentle, who ran through the field to take the win.
I tried to catch up but just couldn’t make up the ground I needed to, and crossed the line in 4th place, which I was happy with. So well done to the champion Ashley, 2nd Kirsten and 3rd Liz, good job girls, was great to have a fun race, and remember how this racing thing works!
Clarkey was down out of the water but had a truly awesome run to finish 4th as well. Australia day was as it should be, fun, fun, fun :-)
So the following day it was back to the normal balls in the wheelie bin sessions, and then on the night Team Dillon and a group of friends went to this very posh restaurant on the Gold Coast called Kio, it was a treat, an expensive treat but, one that you're worthy of Mr Clarke.
It's Will's birthday on Monday so an early Happy Birthday Mr Will Clarke!!
